Supporting a new global generation of
women in technology.
Launched in 2019 with the Progress Mary Székely Scholarship for Women in STEM, the Women in STEM Scholarship Series supports women interested in studying computer science, software engineering, IT and/or computer information systems. Since then, we have added the Progress Software Akanksha Scholarship for Women in STEM in India and the Women in Tech Scholarship Program in Bulgaria.
Established in 2019 to honor Progress co-founder Mary Székely (pronounced: “See-kay”), the Progress Software Mary Székely Scholarship for Women in STEM is a $10,000 four-year renewable scholarship for a Massachusetts woman, including those identifying as a woman, who plan to major in computer science, software engineering, IT and/or computer information systems.
Applications for the 2024 Progress Software Mary Székely Scholarship for Women in STEM have closed. Check back here in the summer to learn about the 2024 recipient.
We established three college scholarships in Bulgaria to support women in their educational pursuits.
The Women in Tech Scholarship at American University is an annual donation of $8,000 from Progress to be distributed to select Bulgarian female full-time students who have a financial need, with preference given to those studying computer science, information systems or mathematics and who maintain a GPA of 3.00 or above.
We expanded our Women in Tech scholarship program to include two new scholarships worth BGN 3,000 each. Girls in their second, third and fourth years studying computer science, software engineering, informatics, information systems or applied mathematics from accredited universities in Bulgaria are eligible to apply.
The Progress Software Akanksha Scholarship for Women in STEM in India is a four‐year, $2,000 per-year renewable scholarship to cover tuition, fees and educational expenses for an Indian woman pursuing an undergraduate degree in computer science, software engineering, IT and/or computer information systems. “Akanksha” is a Sanskrit word that translates to “aspire”—which is a state of mind and spirit to seek progress and accomplish challenges with grit.
