Progress DataDirect’s ODBC Driver for OpenEdge offers a high-performing, secure and reliable connectivity solution for ODBC applications to access OpenEdge data. Our ODBC driver can be easily used with all versions of SQL and across all platforms - Unix / Linux, AIX, Solaris and Windows. Enjoy real-time analytics, reporting and business intelligence (BI) capabilities with your favorite tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, Excel, Cognos, Informatica, SAS, Board, MicroStrategy, SSIS, Oracle OBIEE and more.
OpenEdge Licensing Options
If you are an existing licensed Progress OpenEdge RDBMS customer and you are under active maintenance with Progress then you are likely already licensed for the ODBC and JDBC drivers and can logon to the Progress’s Electronic Software Download (ESD) site using your Progress credentials to download the latest version of the OpenEdge ODBC and JDBC drivers.
However, if you obtained the OpenEdge RDBMS from a 3rd party Progress Application Partner (that has built a commercial application on top of Progress OpenEdge) then you have two choices:
You can work directly with your Progress Application Partner to request an OpenEdge ODBC or JDBC driver.
Since your relationship is with that Application Partner (and not directly with Progress) all OpenEdge software distribution, license keys and technical support is handled by that Application Partner.
You can choose to purchase an annual subscription for the DataDirect OpenEdge ODBC or JDBC and have the ability to work directly with Progress DataDirect Technical Support.

Alternatively, instead of directly querying your live OpenEdge data from your favorite BI or ETL too, another solution to consider is to replicate your OpenEdge data into an Oracle or SQL Server data warehouse and run your SQL requests against that warehouse. If this approach is of interest then consider Progress OpenEdge Pro2 which is an easy approach to replicating OpenEdge data to Oracle and SQL Server.
